Peer Review Process Policy

An Editor (EIC, Editor, or Guest Editor) will manage the peer-review process. Editorial Review Board (ERB) members and/or outside reviewers deemed to be well qualified by the Editor are invited to review the manuscript until commitments are received by two reviewers. On occasion, a third reviewer may be invited to submit a review, especially if there is significant disagreement between the first two reviewers. The Editor will also review the manuscript and will typically provide additional comments.

If a manuscript is invited for revision, the paper may undergo a second round of reviews. The original reviewers are offered the first opportunity to review the revision. If necessary, a new reviewer may be invited to assess the revision. This process may be repeated until the manuscript reaches the level of scholarship and quality expected for this journal. The final review is provided by the Editor, who will work directly with the contact author to generate a version that is acceptable to both parties.

Manuscripts categorized as Original Research, Research Notes, Reviews, Tutorials, Clinical Perspectives, Case Studies, and Case Reports are subject to a double-blind peer review. Other content, such as Conference Proceedings, Commentaries, Literary Reviews, Letters to the Editor, and Commentaries undergo Editorial review or another review process in lieu of double-blind peer review.
